COVINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) – A convenience store robbery suspect was arrested after he tried to evade police overnight by running across the Clude Bailey Bridge over the Ohio River.
Ronell Moore, 33, of Cincinnati, was booked into the Kenton County Detention Center on charges of robbery, escape, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, menacing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said he was spotted by a clerk at a Covington Liquor and Tobacco store during a robbery around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday night. He tried to leave without paying for two bottles of wine and other items.
According to police, the employee blocked the door and tried to hold him there until police arrived, but then he pushed her and threatened that he had a gun in his pocket.
After Moore ran out of the store, he ran onto the Clue-Bailey Bridge and began crossing the bridge in an attempt to flee toward Cincinnati, police said.
He took off his uniquely patterned and colored jacket and tried to throw it off the bridge.
Police were unable to recover the items he was accused of stealing from the store and believe he successfully threw them off the bridge.
The Kenton County Jail was unable to obtain a photo of Moore because he refused to cooperate when he was booked around 2 a.m., jail officials said:
